The band had been in the US playing a series of concerts including a gig alongside US singer Halsey at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
They are due to play a 4.45pm set at the festival’s main Pyramid Stage on Friday, leaving them little time to make the 10-hour flight and complete the almost three-hour drive to the Somerset festival.
But there may be hope for fans of the band hoping to see them play after they posted a short video on their Instagram page on Thursday evening appearing to show them at a check-in desk at Los Angeles airport.
It came as 700 British Airways workers at the airport, mostly check-in staff, over pay cuts.
A spokesman for American Airlines, which runs transatlantic flights alongside British Airways said: “On June 22, American Airlines flight 134 from LAX to LHR was cancelled. We apologise for the inconvenience as we never want to disrupt our customer’s travel plans.
“Those booked on yesterday’s flight were provided meal and hotel vouchers, and have been accommodated on alternate flights.”
