2 dead, 2 injured after shooting in Philadelphia’s Point Breeze neighborhood

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Two people are dead and two others are wounded after weapons were fired over and over again in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia Thursday night.

Families, including young children, were outside on the summer night when gunfire erupted on the block around 8:45 p.m. on South Bucknell and Oakford streets.

Home surveillance video captured the scene as the sounds of gunfire could be heard and residents took cover behind parked vehicles.

In the video, one resident can be heard screaming, “Where are the kids?”

The children on the block were not injured in the shootout, police say.

All four shooting victims, men in their 20s and 30s, were struck multiple times. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

A 36-year-old man who lived on the block was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Another 36-year-old man died about an hour later.

A 28-year-old man is in critical condition at the hospital.

A 26-year-old man who was shot three times in the leg is in stable condition.

Police say all four men who were shot were involved in some way; one of them had a gun and is believed to be one of the gunmen.

More than 30 spent shell casings were found at the scene.

“There were a number of people shooting during this incident, and we know that a silver or gray vehicle left the scene- we believe that was involved as well and contains inside some of the gunmen,” Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace.

Police continue to review different camera angles to determine how many gunmen there were and who they are.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
